Mini Grilled Cheese Hearts (Printable)

Bite-sized grilled cheese sandwiches cut into heart shapes perfect for parties, snacks, or lunchboxes.

# What You Need:

→ Bread

01 - 6 slices soft white or whole wheat sandwich bread

→ Cheese

02 - 6 slices cheddar, American, or your favorite melting cheese

→ Butter

03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# Directions:

01 - Using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out two hearts from each bread slice (12 hearts total). Repeat with cheese slices to create 12 cheese hearts.
02 - Place one cheese heart between two bread hearts to form each mini sandwich.
03 - Spread a thin layer of softened butter on the outside of each sandwich.
04 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place sandwiches buttered side down and cook for 2–3 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for another 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is crisp.
05 - Serve warm.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • These are ridiculously cute and make anyone smile instantly
  • They are perfectly portioned for grazing and snacking
02 -
  • Work quickly once you start grilling because these little hearts cook faster than regular sandwiches due to their size
  • If your cheese is not melting try covering the pan with a lid for 30 seconds to trap the heat
03 -
  • Use a spatula with a thin edge to flip these without squishing the delicate heart shape
  • Let them rest on a wire rack for 1 minute after cooking so they stay crispy instead of getting soggy
